With a few weeks to tour the north of Thailand, taking a Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai was right up there on our must do list. Thai food is scrumptious and to don an apron and wave an oversized chopping knife around in one hand, a wok in the other exclaiming “ooh la la” like a Michelin star chef was something we weren’t going to miss out on. So we booked ourselves a class and did we strike it lucky? Oh yeah! If you’re visiting Chiang Mai, it’d be a missed opportunity if you don’t book what has to be the best Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai has an overwhelming amount of Thai cooking classes. I was tasked with the job of picking a good one. I halfheartedly flipped through the brochures at the local tourism office, and all of them looked so… boring! All the same drab dishes, all the same dull format. So I took my search online and within 10 minutes, I had found the one. As soon as I landed on A Lot of Thai’s webpage, I just had a good feeling that it’d be special
A Lot of Thai Cooking Class: One of the highlights of the trip. There are dozens of cooking classes in Chiang Mai, but I eventually settled on this one after much research and a few recommendations. We spent the full day cooking( and eating) up a storm, while learning how to create the most authentic Thai dishes. We also headed to the local market, where we were able to sample and see all of the fresh ingredients that go into Thai Cooking. We ate some of the best food of our entire trip during this class and would highly recommend it!

That’s how awesome taking class at A Lot of Thai was. Aside from knowing the difference and importance of each ingredient to the magical science of flavour sequence, A Lot of Thai was able to serve as an avenue for my sister and I to bond and experience the best Chiang Mai could offer. Also, it taught us the art of cooking Thai food in an unconventional way and because of that, we fell in love with cooking even more and we can hardly wait to try cooking the dishes again.
